Money Orders

There comes a time when you do not want to use a check, and perhaps using your credit card is out of the question. You may not find this to be the case often, but there may be times when you will need to use money orders to pay for something. Though I have not had to do this very often as of late, I have had to use them when I ordered something overseas. There are times when the more convenient ways to send money are not available to you, and you have to find a form of payment that both you and the other person can live with.

If you are sending money orders to those within the United States, you only have to go to the post office to find which you need. You can get money orders for just about anything, and almost anyone will accept them. There are many people that for one reason or another do not have a checking account or a credit card, and these are the folks that use money orders the most. For the most part they are secure, and you will find that most people accept them when they will not accept other forms of payment.

You can find money orders through some places such as Western Union. There are some establishments that have their own form of money orders, but you will find that you may have a hard time cashing them. Someone once paid me for an item via eBay with a Western Union money order. I told the buyer that she could send me this because she had no other form of acceptable payment. What I didnít know was that I would go to almost everyone in my town, and find that none of them accepted Western Union money orders.

In the end, I found someone who would take the money order from me. It was a small cigarette and comic book store, and the owner told me that they had ways to cash the Western Union Money orders. I am thankful that he did this for me, and he has my business as a result, although they really isnít much need for me to go in there. Remember if you are going to accept or send money orders that you know where you can cash them, or you know where you can get them. You may want to specify that the only money orders you will except are the ones that come from the United States Post Office.
